Be The Best YOU That You Can Be

Dr. Enrique Jacome
We all have thoughts on who we would like to be. These thoughts come from a number of influences on us over the years. We are constantly bombarded daily with information regarding what we are to look like, dress like, act like and just BE LIKE! This information comes from magazines, television, our friends and even family members. How easy it is to lose focus on who we truly are and welcome, rejoice and love all the unique qualities that come with being ourselves. Here are some great tips to help us love ourselves, appreciate our achievements and be the best individual we can be:
Be in the Moment
Jim Eliot said, “Wherever you are, be all there!” In our modern world this seems like an impossible task. We may be in one of the most beautiful places in the world, yet we find a way to still connect with everyone else not the moment. How many times have you seen a sunset so beautiful, but quickly grab your phone, your camera and connect with social media instead of that moment of AHHH!!  We all love keeping in touch with our friends and family, but remember the key here is to focus on who you are with and what you are experiencing. Doing so may help you find even more joy than you thought.
Be Positive
It’s a challenge some days to stay positive. We get that! Try looking out another window, the window of positivity. When you are stressed try this: Take a deep breathe, walk out of the room and come back in. What do you see now? How can you take away something positive from the situation? Are you wearing your shoulders as earrings these days? Smile! Breathe! Relax!
Be in Harmony with your Hormones
Hormones are not limited to causing problems in teenagers. They can stir up trouble in adults with very different results. As teenagers, you may remember people blaming hormones for your attraction to someone, a smattering of pimples on your face or for overreacting about something. Hopefully you experience a bit of a respite in adulthood from those troublesome hormones. Chances are they can start difficulties again. Are you tired at the end of the day? Are you tossing and turning instead of sleeping? Do you have cold sweats even though your room is nice and warm. Is the room too warm for you while others are freezing? Do you jump at others for no reason? SottoPelle works with your body to bring back your energy and keep your hormones in balance. Each dose is individualized  for you!  You get what your body needs.

Great Tips To Help Women Keep Health Resolutions In 2014

Dr. Geno Tutera
As time wears on and New Year’s Eve feels long ago, we tend to forget the reasons we chose our New Year's resolutions, especially the resolutions that pertain to our health. We all get busy with every day life & our yearly goals sometimes get pushed to the back burner.  Family, work & responsibilities sometimes take precedence over taking care of ourselves. With this blog, we have compiled some fabulous tips to help you keep your personal health resolutions even when the journey becomes difficult. After all, we think your health should be your most important priority this year & in years to come.

Make it Visual
Get creative and make a visual representation of your goals. Are you trying to lose weight? Put two jars side by side. Fill one with the same number of pebbles as pounds you want to lose and leave the other empty. For each pound you lose, take one pebble from the full jar and place it in the unfilled one. You’ll be motivated to keep putting pebbles in that jar and empty out the other one
Ask Around
Check out Facebook and Twitter. Do some of your friends or relatives have similar health goals? Ask if you can team up and achieve your goals with flying colors. Having support is of utmost importance when embarking on a new journey. It will be a great excuse to call them when you need someone and it will be a positive experience for them to have someone to encourage them as well.
There’s an App for That
Are you trying to save money? Are you trying to eat healthier? Are you trying to stay organized? Are you trying to spend more time with your family? There are apps for all of those resolutions and more! There are even apps that help you monitor how much water you drink every day. You can keep track of the food you eat with a number of different apps that allow you to directly input or scan the barcode of what you’re eating. Often built in with programmable reminders, these apps can help you stay on track to achieve your goal
Be Open to Reevaluation
Don’t beat yourself up if something isn’t working. Look back at what you set for yourself and be open to revisions. Do you physically not have the time to get to the gym for two hours a day three days a week before it closes? Then look into workouts you can do in the comfort of your own home when you can’t make it in. You’ll still be staying fit but you won’t be as stressed on those days that you can’t get there.

Hormone Replacement For Treatment Of Hypothyroidism

Dr. Enrique Jacome
As you age you may find yourself combated with a number of conditions that worsen as you grow older. A common disorder like this is hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism symptoms may mimic the symptoms of menopause, particularly relating to muscle strength, memory, and metabolism, the two are often confused but a single solution may not address all ailments.
Hypothyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland is not producing enough of certain important hormones to meet the body’s needs. If hypothyroidism goes untreated, it may result in heart disease, obesity or joint pain. Hypothyroidism often affects women over the age of sixty.  If you or a family member have an autoimmune disease or you have undergone radiation therapy you could be at a greater risk for this condition.
The symptoms of this condition can often go undetected in the early stages. Dry skin, fatigue, depression, and constipation are common signs. These may lead to unexplained weight gain, muscle weakness, joint pain or stiffness, a slowed heart rate or impaired memory. Testing for hypothyroidism is often done through a blood test and is generally recommended that older women are screened for it routinely.
Treating hypothyroidism with a bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) such as SottoPelle allows your body to receive the hormones it needs without heavy medications. A medication that specifically addresses the thyroid may be needed in addition to a BHRT but if you are around fifty years old or older, a BHRT may be an excellent option for you as it can treat other symptoms related to menopause or andropause as well as your thyroid condition. If you have concerns about your thyroid, you should speak with your doctor to develop the best course of action for you.

Research Shows Women Benefit From Testosterone Administration After Hysterectomy

Dr. Enrique Jacome
Hysterectomy and oophorectomy (the removal of ovaries) are performed to treat various diseases in women, including cancer. These procedures are accompanied not only by a decline in estrogen but also testosterone levels in the blood. Many women who have undergone surgical removal of their uterus and/or ovaries can develop symptoms of sexual dysfunction, fatigue, low mood and decreased muscle mass.

New research from Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) has found that testosterone administration in women with low testosterone levels, whom previously had undergone hysterectomy with or without oophorectomy, was associated with improvements in sexual function, muscle mass and physical function. This research appears in the journal Menopause.
"Recently, there has been a lot of interest in testosterone treatment in postmenopausal women for sexual dysfunction and other various health conditions. However, no previous studies have evaluated the benefits and negative effects of testosterone replacement over a wide range of doses," explained Grace Huang, MD, a research physician in BWH's Department of Endocrinology and lead author on this study.
There has been emerging interest in supplemental hormonal treatment with testosterone for disrupted sexual functioning, loss of muscle mass, physical limitations and osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. In this study, researchers sought to determine the dose-dependent effects of testosterone on sexual function, body composition, muscle performance and physical function in women with low testosterone levels who had undergone hysterectomy with or without oophorectomy. They studied 71 women over the course of 24 weeks. Participants were randomly assigned either to placebo or one of four testosterone doses given weekly. They found that the higher dose, 25mg, of testosterone tested in this trial after 24 weeks was associated with gains in sexual function, muscle mass and measures of physical performance.
"A primary concern with testosterone therapy is that it can cause symptoms of masculinization among women. These symptoms include unwanted hair growth, acne and lower voice tone. It's important to note that very few of these side effects were seen in our study," explained Huang.

Make The Most Out Of 2014

Dr. Enrique Jacome
A new year allows everyone a fresh start, which makes it a perfect opportunity to make the most of 2014. People make endless resolutions about how to make a new year better than the last. Some may be able to make them stick but not without hard work and dedication.
Stay Positive – To make the most of the New Year remember to stay positive. Albert Einstein said that “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.”
Tell Others – Those who keep goals to themselves are less likely to keep them because they don’t feel that they have any obligation. You should tell friends or family about your goals and ask for encouragement when you need it. You will be more willing to keep the resolutions you have set for yourself and have a support system in place for when you need it.
Keep Moving Forward – It’s okay if you mess up every once in a while, you are human and are susceptible to mistakes. The trick is to not let minor setbacks keep you from pressing forward. If you’re trying to eat healthy and have a moment of weakness for a bowl of ice cream, then use it as motivation to be even more determined to stay healthy.
Keep Hormones in Check – Hormones play a major role in your everyday life. If you are trying to exercise regularly or get a better job, few things can hold you back more than not having enough energy or getting enough sleep. SottoPelle can help keep your hormones regulated while you strive to achieve your goals.

Research Shows Estrogen May Prevent Memory Loss

Dr. Geno Tutera
As women age, they often report feelings of brain fog and memory loss. Two-thirds of women enduring menopause report forgetfulness. This is often associated with growing older but new findings suggest there may be a solution. During the past few years, multiple studies have been conducted on memory loss in women. A new study offers renewed hope to women who are combating these exasperating symptoms daily.
The University of Southern California has recently released a study they conducted revealing that estrogen may protect women who are growing older from the effects of stress and memory loss. During the five year study, they found that postmenopausal women with estrogen replacement therapy performed better under stress than those with low estrogen levels. They also found that women with higher estrogen levels had lower surges of cortisol, the hormone referred to as the stress hormone. These findings caused researchers to conclude that estrogen may be a natural barrier against stress.
SottoPelle therapy differs from creams by using your internal system to regulate what your body knows it needs and when. Unlike other methods, Hormone Pellet Replacement Therapy does not invite foreign synthetics into your body. This method uses pure hormone and a small percentage of human fatty acid to work with the existing hormones in your body. The pellets can work with your body for up to six months and you don’t have to worry about taking a pill or using a cream every day.
Start the New Year off right with SottoPelle®!
